How to play Beach Handball

Beach Handball - Wellington Open Championship.

Saturday 17 Jan 2009 (Rain Day 18 Jan)
Oriental Bay Beach, Wellington, New Zealand

Games start 10am, Finals 3pm, Finish 5pm, Party 7pm.

The increasingly popular sport of Beach Handball is back in Wellington for its 4th annual tournament.

If you can catch, throw, run and jump with a ball in hand, then Beach Handball is the sport for you!
The playing area is 12mx27m. There is a goal at each end. The game is played 4 against 4 (including goalkeepers). Normal goals = 1 point. Spectacular goals = 2 points. There are 2 x 10 min halves per game.
The rules are fairly simple: Try to biff the ball into the opponent’s goal, but you can involve a lot of tactics!

It’s like Rugby, but faster! Like Waterpolo without the water. Like Beach Volleyball, but more full on!

To make up a team you will need between 6 and 8 of your mates (that will include some subs). This is a game that anyone can play.

Spectators are of course free! And if you are a true sports fanatic, you will love Beach Handball!”

Teams from all over New Zealand will battle it out on the sands of Oriental Bay.
There will be male, female and mixed social divisions so anyone can have a go.

Registration are $100 per team. Payment details available on request. Registrations close on Fri 9 Jan 2009. First in first served. There is limited capacity in the draw!

Please indicate what division and colour your team will be, first in first served.
